Volkswagen Financial Services cooperates with the University of Hildesheim

Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) and the University of Hildesheim Foundation have signed a cooperation agreement on the development of artificial intelligence. To this end, the university is setting up the new “Volkswagen Financial Services Data Analytics Research Center” (VWFS DARC). With a budget of around six million euros, eight doctoral students and two post-docs under the direction of Prof. Dr. dr Lars Schmidt-Thieme research new AI methods and AI technologies from the areas of “Advanced Machine Learning” and “Trustworthy AI”.

The cooperation will later be used in the digital business processes of VWFS and is initially planned for five years. In addition, the transfer of knowledge between the university and companies in the courses of study in data analytics, applied computer science and business informatics as well as the exchange between Europe’s largest automotive financial service provider and the students and graduates of the university are to be promoted.
