Apprentices want to make the ID Buzz even more sustainable

Apprentices from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volkswagen Group Retail Germany are starting a joint vehicle project. Over the next few months, 13 trainees from both companies will convert an ID Buzz. The focus is on the use of sustainable materials. The result will be presented next year.

At the first meeting, Dr. Fabian Fischer from Group Research presented various materials and assessed them with regard to their production, use and recyclability. The trainees were then able to examine molded parts made of wood, textiles, wool and hemp or even mushroom leather and banana textiles. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is already promising to produce the ID Buzz in the Hanover plant with a carbon-neutral balance sheet. The use of alternative materials also helps here. (awm)
